Is this you?

You may be...

  • Thinking about work far too much, even when the day is over

  • Replaying meetings, emails, or conversations in your head

  • Dreading certain people or situations at work

  • Struggling to relax properly, even at weekends

  • Lying awake thinking about what happened that day or what might happen tomorrow

  • Feeling more tense, more irritable, or more exhausted than usual

  • Losing confidence in yourself and your abilities

  • Trying hard to keep going, while feeling worse underneath

I work with ambitious professionals in high-pressure environments, including law, banking, finance, and other demanding roles in the City.

Some people come because the pace and pressure have become too much. Others are dealing with conflict at work, a difficult boss, bullying, or an atmosphere that leaves them constantly on edge.

Often, they are still functioning on the surface. But work is taking more out of them than it used to, and they know something needs to change.

When the problem is not just pressure

Sometimes the issue is workload, sometimes it is the environment you are working in.

A difficult manager. A colleague who undermines you. Conflict that keeps building. A workplace where criticism, blame, or fear seem to be part of the culture.

These situations can have a significant psychological impact. They can leave you watchful, preoccupied, and stuck in a constant state of tension, even outside work.

This is a significant part of the work I do.

Many people leave it too long.

They tell themselves it is just a busy patch or part of the job, and that they should be coping better.

By the time they get in touch, they have often been carrying stress and anxiety for some time.

Therapy does not have to be a last resort. It can help whether you are still functioning but feeling the cost of it, or things have started to feel more serious.

Who I work with

I work with adults experiencing stress, anxiety, burnout, and difficult workplace situations.

Many of the people I see are professionals in demanding roles, including in the City of London, but I work with adults of all ages and across a range of backgrounds and professions.

They are often dealing with pressure, workplace conflict, difficult managers, bullying, or the sense that work is taking too much out of them.

Therapy can help them understand what is happening, feel more grounded, and think more clearly about what needs to change.

Common reasons people come for work stress therapy

Constant pressure

BLOG POSTS Dr Liz (13).png

The demands never really let up, and your mind and body no longer seem to have much space to recover.

Bullying & harassment

Burnout and exhaustion

BLOG POSTS Dr Liz (13).png

You may feel depleted, detached, flat, or unlike yourself, making work feel even harder. Things that once felt manageable may now take much more effort.

Loss of confidence

Even very capable people can begin to doubt themselves when they have been under pressure or have been in an environment that gradually erodes confidence.

Workplace conflict

Tension with colleagues, difficult team dynamics, or repeated clashes can leave you drained, watchful, and on edge.

Performance fears or job security

You may be worried about criticism, making mistakes, being judged, or what one wrong move could mean.

Low mood & loss of motivation

Work stress can leave you feeling flat, drained, and unlike yourself which can affect your motivation and ability to engage with work or life in the way you used to.

Perfectionism & self-pressure

Sometimes the workplace is demanding, and sometimes the standards you hold yourself to make it even harder to step back, switch off, or feel you have done enough.

Why work with me

What I bring is not only clinical expertise, but a strong understanding of pressured workplaces.

Before working full time in private practice, I held very senior roles in the NHS, managing large services, large budgets, and complex systems under considerable pressure. I understand what it is like to work in target-driven environments, to carry serious responsibility, and to navigate difficult organisational dynamics.

For the past several years, I have also worked closely with hard working City professionals whose jobs place them under sustained pressure.

So when someone comes to me struggling with stress at work, I bring not only psychological expertise, but a real understanding of the pressures and realities of working in demanding environments.

Therapy can help whether you want to stay or leave

You may want to stay in your job and cope better, or perhaps you are trying to work out whether you can continue in the same role, team, or organisation.

You may already know that something needs to change but feel too stressed or overwhelmed to think clearly.

Therapy can help with that.

In person therapy in the City of London and online

I offer appointments in person in the heart of the City of London in addition to online.

For many clients, the location is a real advantage. If you work in central London, being able to attend therapy in the City can make it easier to fit support around an already demanding working life.
