Depression Therapy in the City of London

Therapy for low mood, feeling stuck, loss of motivation, and lack of direction in life

Depression is not always easy to describe.

Sometimes people know they feel low, or it can show up more as flatness, lack of motivation, or a sense that life has become harder to connect with.

You may not be able to point to one clear reason, but you know you do not feel like yourself.

I work with adults who are struggling with low mood - who feel hopeless, lack direction or purpose, and feel like this is making life harder to engage with.

Does this sound like you?

You may be...

  • Feeling low, flat, or emotionally numb

  • Lacking energy or motivation

  • Finding it hard to get going, even with ordinary things

  • Feeling disconnected from yourself, other people, or daily life

  • Struggling to see the point in things

  • Feeling hopeless, self-critical, or defeated

  • Withdrawing from people or activities

  • Feeling directionless or unsure how to move forward

  • Having thoughts that life feels unbearable or not worth living

Sometimes it's hard to put your finger on what's wrong, you just know something's changed and you can't seem to shift it.

This is where therapy can be helpful

How I can help

When someone feels low, stuck, or unlike themselves, my first priority is to understand what that experience has been like for them.

Sometimes there has been a clear build-up - difficult life events, prolonged stress, or a gradual wearing down over time. But often it is difficult to pinpoint anything that has happened and it's difficult to explain exactly why things feel so hard.

We begin by making sense of how things have changed, what may have contributed to how you are feeling, and what may be keeping things difficult in the present.

Therapy may involve making sense of patterns such as withdrawal, self-criticism, hopelessness, or loss of motivation. It may also involve helping someone change unhelpful ways of thinking, reconnect with their values, and begin making changes that support a greater sense of direction, purpose, and connection with life.

I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over three decades of experience helping adults through periods of low mood, emotional difficulty, and feeling stuck. The support I offer is thoughtful, empathic, collaborative and grounded in the latest evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
