Is anxiety taking up too much space in your life?

Anxiety can creep into everyday life in all sorts of ways.

You may find yourself constantly thinking ahead, overanalysing, struggling to relax, or feeling as though your mind never really switches off.

For some people, it shows up as persistent worry. For others, it is panic, physical tension, or a constant sense of being on edge.

Whether it has been there for years or has become more difficult to manage recently, in therapy, I can help you understand what's happening and learn how to manage it more effectively

There is hope - anxiety is treatable

Common reasons people seek therapy for anxiety

Excessive worry

Your mind may keep jumping ahead, imagining problems, or struggling to settle, even when there is no immediate reason for concern.

Social anxiety

You may worry about how you come across, replay interactions afterwards, or avoid situations that leave you feeling exposed or judged.

Physical symptoms of anxiety

You may notice tension, restlessness, chest tightness, racing thoughts, stomach discomfort, difficulty sleeping, or the sense of always being on alert.

Panic and feeling overwhelmed

You may experience sudden surges of panic, physical panic symptoms, or the feeling that everything becomes too much very quickly.

Overthinking

You may go over things repeatedly, second-guess yourself, or find it hard to let things go once they are in your mind.

Work-related anxiety

Anxiety may be affecting concentration, confidence, sleep, or your ability to switch off from work.

How I work

We begin by building a shared understanding of how the anxiety started, what may have shaped it, and what is keeping it going in the present. From there, we decide together what to focus on first, guided by your goals for therapy and what is likely to make the biggest difference.

I use CBT as part of my work, but I do not work in a rigid or formulaic way. Depending on the person and the situation, therapy may involve helping you manage worry, building skills in how to respond differently to anxious thoughts and physical sensations, reduce avoidance, rebuild confidence, and feel more able to cope in everyday life.

My overarching aim is to offer support that feels thoughtful, personal, and grounded in a real understanding of what your anxiety is like for you.

Why work with me

I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with more than three decades of experience helping adults with a range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including anxiety in all its different forms.

I use a range of therapeutic models including CBT, alongside a broader, tailored approach shaped around the person and the situation.

I aim to offer therapy that is bespoke, thoughtful, and practical, rather than rigid or one-size-fits-all.

How anxiety therapy can help

Therapy can help you understand anxiety more clearly and begin to respond to it differently.

That may mean helping you to:

  • Make sense of the worry, overthinking, or avoidance that may be keeping anxiety going

  • Recognise the patterns between anxious thoughts, physical symptoms, and behaviour

  • Respond differently to anxious thoughts rather than treating them as facts

  • Face situations you may have started avoiding

  • Feel less overwhelmed by physical symptoms such as tension, panic, or restlessness

  • Sleep better, think more clearly, and feel more confident in everyday life

For some people, therapy is about overcoming or reducing the intensity of anxiety. For others, it is about feeling less trapped by it and more able to get on with life.
